Time-Based Fees - Release Date: 11/18/2026
Session fees now have four new Fee Structures, so you can bill by the time a child actually attends instead of a flat amount.
What’s new
Session fees will include four new Fee Structures: Hourly, Per 15 Minutes, Per 30 Minutes, and Per 60 Minutes. The 15, 30, and 60-minute options also provide an opportunity to specify a Grace Period.
Each session is priced from its check-in and check-out times. While a child is checked in, the session’s amount is $0. Once they’re checked out, the amount is set.
You’ll see the results via the Attendance/Booking > Finance view, which shows the actual time attended plus a tooltip explaining how the amount was calculated.
How the Fee Structures Work
| Hourly | Per 15 / 30 / 60 Minutes | |
| Cost | The price per hour | The price per block |
| How time is counted | Real clock time, to the second | Blocks of the chosen length, counted on the day’s total time (not visit by visit) |
| Leftover time | Billed as exact hours | Leftover minutes add one more block, unless they’re within the Grace Period |
| Minimum Charge | None | Any visit of 1 minute or more costs at least one block |
| Formula | Rate × exact hours, down to the cent (never rounded up) | Number of blocks × block cost |
A few things to note...
- How Hourly handles seconds: Check-in and check-out record the real clock time, so a visit shown as “7:58” may really be 7:58:40. That can change Hourly amounts by a few cents.
- Per-block pricing: The Cost is per block of time, so $10.00 on Per 15 Minutes works out to $40 an hour, not $10. Any time spent of 1 minute or more costs at least one block.
- Early and late policies: If the fee has an early or late policy, time before the fee’s start or after its end isn’t billed at the hourly or block rate. The early or late fee covers it instead.
- There is no daily cap on how long a child can spend in care
- No subsidy is applied to a time-based fee.
Program Updates - Release Date: 11/18/2026
Many KT businesses use our Program enrollment flow to capture classes and tuition within a program. As a first step in a larger effort to enhance Program capabilities, we have opened up Programs, so now every business can create Programs, even if you’re not using the Program flow for enrollment.
For now, programs will remain a one-to-one with classes, but this will change in the future so you can associate multiple classes with an individual program and report at the class and program level.
With this first release, you can add an enrollment to a Program even if the class on that enrollment isn't the class associated with the Program when you configured it.
