Taking custody of the children in your class using the Point of Care app should be done when the child enters the classroom and is officially in your care for the day. This act tells the app that the child is now in your care and they will show as active in your classroom. The system will also take into account the staff to child ratios which have been configured in your class set up.

Staff to Child Ratios
Ratios are shown in the left-hand hexagons in Point of Care below Center Overview.
In this example, the Infant Room ratio is 1:4. One staff member is present, and two children have been checked into the Infant Room. As a result, this screen indicates that within the Infant Room, we have room for two more children to be checked in.

- In the right column, all children are displayed, even those who are checked in.
- Drag and drop any child currently in your presence to the left column.
Please note the following:
- IF a child is already checked in (or out) when you move them to "In" or "Out", you will NOT be prompted to confirm their status change.
- IF a child is NOT checked in already (or out) when you move them to "In" or "Out", you WILL be prompted to confirm their status change. Children’s “In” or “Out” status persists until changed by a teacher.
