An accounting period is a specific range of time when accounting functions are performed and analyzed. Users are able to define accounting periods within Kangarootime.
Once a period is closed, transactions created that apply to a date within the closed period will have a period date set to the next open period.

Exporting Reports with Period Accounting
Setting Up Accounting Periods
- Navigate to Billing within the navigation menu
- Select Settings
- Select the Accounting Periods tab
- For initial setup-
- The first Period Start Date is always set to 1/1/2000
- Enter your Center's first Period End Date using the last day of the previous month
- Select Close
- For closing periods after initial set up:
- Period Start Date will default to the day after the previously closed Period End Date
- Select the Period End Date
- Select Close
The first closed period will display (see the example in the table below.) Selecting the drop-down arrow at the end of the row will display which User closed the period and the date the user closed the period.
The next accounting Period Start Date will automatically display the day after the closed Period End Date - ready to use for the next accounting period.
Exporting Reports with Period Accounting
Specific reports in Kangarootime can be run with Period Accounting.
Analytics Exports that allow Period Accounting include:
- Transaction totals (by transaction type) per month
- Transaction totals (by transaction type) per week
- Transaction totals per month
- Transaction totals per week
How to run an Analytics Export with Period Accounting:
- Select Analytics
- Select Exports
- Locate transaction report
- Select Run Report
- Enter the Center and date parameters
- Select the Period Accounting option to ON
- Select Generate Report
In the Billing feature Users can also run specific reports with Period Accounting.
Billing Reports with Period Accounting include:
- Transaction Report
- Payments Report
How to run a Billing report for transactions with Period Accounting:
- Select Billing
- Select Transactions
- Select Run Report
- Enter the Center, Account, and Date parameters
- Toggle the Period Accounting to ON
- Select Run Report
How to run a Billing report for payments with Period Accounting:
- Select Billing
- Select Payments
- Select Run Report
- Enter the Center, Account, Payment method, and Date parameters
- Toggle the Period Accounting to ON
- Select Run Report
