In Kangarootime, a digital blueprint of your center can be created using the Location and Space functionalities. This article explains the distinction between these two features and provides step-by-step guidance on using them effectively.

Locations
Locations are designated areas within your school where staff may be scheduled, but where children are not typically present. For example, the front desk is a location where a staff member may be assigned; however, students are not expected to be actively present in the area. As such, the front desk would be set up as a location rather than a space.
How to Create a Location:
- Select Employees
- Select Schedule
- Select Add New to add a Location
- Type the name of the location
- Select the Enter key on your keyboard computer
Spaces
Spaces are designated areas within a school where students are located throughout the day. Each class is assigned a primary homeroom space. Shared areas such as the cafeteria, gymnasium, or playground can also be included to help track where classes and students are at any given time. These spaces are visible and managed within the Point of Care app and the Kangarootime School module.
How to Create a Space:
- Select Configuration
- Select Schools
- Select the School to which you would like to add a space
- Select Spaces tab
- Select +Add New Space
- Enter the space name and select an icon to represent the space
- Select Add
