KinderConnect dictates a set of base criteria that must be met in order to successfully send check-in and check-out times from Kangarootime to the KinderConnect system. We recommend that all attendance records be reviewed for accuracy before the designated send date to ensure a successful automated upload into KinderConnect. This simple guide offers best practices for making sure attendance records are ready to send before the automated send date.
Unmatched Children
KinderConnect verifies children by looking at First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth in Kangarootime to find matches. If you find any children who have an active subsidy agreement in KinderConnect but appear in Unmatched within the Kangrootime integration, navigate to the child's profile in Kangarootime and make the first name, last name, and date of birth match exactly to what's in KinderConnect.
Review Process
Before times are submitted, you should review attendance records for the following or attendance records will not be sent for the week for impacted children:
- All attendance records must have a check-in AND check-out time
- Check out times cannot be before the check-in time (ex. check out at 8:00 AM, check in at 8:30 AM)
- This should not happen under normal circumstances in Kangarootime - if you see this, please report to helpdesk@kangarootime.com
- Check-in and out times cannot overlap between classes (ex. child is checked into before school class at 7:00 AM > not checked out > checked into after school at 3:00 PM > staff notice the lack of before school check-out record and checks the child out at 3:30 PM > child is checked out of after school at 5:00 PM)
- If a child did not attend scheduled care, it helps to mark the child Absent in Kangaorotime or have primary caregivers indicate absences via the KT Connect app.
If you need to make any edits to attendance records, please see our How to Adjust or Delete a Child's Check In & Out Time article.
Post Transfer
If there is an issue with the transfer, the transfer will post with a Failed status, which indicates that at least one child's records failed to send. Each failed record will post an error. Any child without an error indicates their times were sent successfully.
Below you'll find the submission policies as dictated by each state (as of 4/10/2026):
- Texas - Providers submit attendance to the state weekly and have 6 days to backdate and correct attendance
- Louisiana - Providers submit attendance to the state weekly and have 6 days to backdate and correct attendance
- New York - Varies county to county. Providers submit attendance in some counties once per month, and in others once per week. There is no limit on how far back they can go to edit attendance.
- Virginia - Providers submit attendance weekly and have 15 days to backdate and correct attendance
